Each file contains every ICD-10-CM diagnosis code for that fiscal year, including 3-character category codes and full billable-level codes. Columns/fields:
- code — the ICD-10-CM code with decimal (e.g., E11.65)
- description — the official long description
- billable — 1 if the code is valid for claim submission, 0 for non-billable parent categories
- chapter — chapter code range (e.g., A00-B99)
- section — section code range (e.g., A00-A09)
CSV files are RFC 4180 formatted with a header row (UTF-8). JSON files contain a top-level object with version, count, and a codes array of objects with the same fields.
These files are derived from the official ICD-10-CM releases published by CMS.gov (Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services). ICD-10-CM data is a US government work in the public domain — you can use these files freely in commercial and open-source projects, no attribution required (though a link back is appreciated).
CMS updates the ICD-10-CM code set once per year, effective October 1 (the start of the federal fiscal year). The FY2026 code set took effect October 1, 2025. We regenerate these files from each new CMS release, so check back each October for the latest code set.
